Sylvia & Marty S.– 2009 Broadway Across America Guests
PACKAGE DESCRIPTION:
Broadway Across America is pleased to extend this invitation to join us for an unforgettable Broadway weekend in New York City featuring an exclusive, strictly limited engagement of the revival A Little Night Music starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury. Your weekend features one of the final performances to include both stars.
Based on Ingmar Bergman's film Smiles of a Summer Night, A Little Night Music is set in a weekend country house in turn of the century Sweden, bringing together surprising liaisons, long simmering passions and a taste of love’s endless possibilities. Hailed as witty and wildly romantic, the story centers on the elegant actress Desirée Armfeldt and the spider’s web of sensuality, intrigue and desire that surrounds her.
Zeta-Jones, of course, is a star of the silver screen including an Oscar-winning performance in Chicago. She came to prominence in Hollywood movies such as The Phantom, The Mask of Zorro, and Entrapment in the late 1990s. She won an Academy Award, BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for portraying Velma Kelly in the 2002 film adaptation of Chicago.
Lansbury is, simply put, an entertainment legend - an actor and singer whose career has spanned seven decades. Respected for her versatility, Lansbury has won five Tony® Awards, six Golden Globes, and has been nominated for numerous other industry awards, including eighteen Emmy Awards. She has focused on Broadway in recent years in productions such as Blithe Spirit, Gypsy, Mame, and Sweeney Todd.
Your second featured show on your weekend excursion is Memphis, an energetic and rollicking new musical that has been drawing standing ovations and rave reviews on Broadway since its opening night in October.
The Associated Press raves, "The sensuous, soulful sound of rhythm 'n' blues hits the audience right from the start of Memphis, the exhilarating new musical now shaking Broadway's Shubert Theatre. Take a deep breath as the curtain rises because the exuberance doesn't stop.
Come late March, you just might find there’s no other place you would rather be than New York City. Spring will be in the air as temperatures moderate and Central Park begins to bloom. Meanwhile, every detail of your trip will be attended to by our dedicated staff.
Following door-to-door service from the airport to your hotel door via luxury town car, it is time to settle in to distinctive accommodations at the ideally situated 4-diamond Muse Hotel less than a block from Times Square. Your weekend in the Big Apple then kicks into gear with an elegant welcome reception with fellow guests, a prelude to the first performance of the weekend, A Little Night Music.
Limited to just 24 guests, this Broadway Across America exclusive also features roundtrip airfare, an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, elegant accommodations in the heart of Times Square, excellent tickets to two other featured shows and the dedicated professional on-site services of the Broadway Across America staff.
